MISSION
To provide University of Phoenix students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into the effective management of personnel in the field of Human Resource Management through affiliation with the HR Houston of SHRM and the National SHRM organization.
HISTORY
The University of Phoenix-Houston Student SHRM Chapter #5627 first meeting of the chapter was held on January 31, 2009 although it was held unofficially. Since that date the chapter has grown exponentially and was officially affiliated with the national professional organization, the Society of Human Resource Management in August 2009. With this affiliation came two recognitions for the chapter: the first professional student organization for the University of Phoenix-Houston and the first professional student organization for all of the University of Phoenix locations nationwide.
